Meet amy

Amy Hinojosa was born and raised in Pasadena, TX. She is a Trustee and the President of the Harris County Department of Education and a director on the board of ProUnitas, a non-profit organization providing access to health and wellness resources for students in the community.

Showing passion for community service throughout her career, she founded a professional mentor program at her engineering firm and a high school mentor program at Northside High School with Project GRAD. Volunteering as a coach, team mom, and board member with the Pasadena Little League, Amy founded their annual Share and Scare Halloween event. Inspired by the number of children drawn to sports in our city, she then founded Community Leaders Encouraging Academia Through Sports, CLEATS, Inc. 501c3, to facilitate university visits for future first-generation kids in Pasadena’s athletic programs. She is a 2024 American Leadership Fellow, 2022 Pasadena Chamber of Commerce IMPACT fellow, 2020 Houston Leadership ISD fellow and 2019 Houston Latinos for Education fellow.

Amy has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston and is married to her high school sweetheart. Together, they have two teenaged boys, two dogs, a cat, and a hamster. With over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, she works full-time in design assurance at Chevron Corporation and in her spare time enjoys family time, cooking, weight lifting, writing, and reading.
